Our aim at the Acorn Centre is to provide children who struggle to access mainstream educational settings with an alternative provision grounded in play and therapeutic activities. A typical Acorn session includes outdoor play and fresh air breaks as standard.
Twice a week, the Acorn team provide specific outdoor learning sessions for selected children and their parent/carers.
Fortunately, the centre is based on the Lincolnsfield Estate, Bushey. This is a woodland estate giving us access to acres of land suitable for outdoor learning activities. Some of our outdoor learning activities include:
- outdoor games
- building campfires and cooking
- going on treasure hunts
- learning walks
Children will be invited to attend an outdoor learning session once a week with their Parent/ Carer based on their Acorn journey requirements. This a great opportunity for our Acorn team to get to know children and their guardians outside of school and the restraints of being indoors.
