Vision and Aims
The Acorn Centre team aim to embrace the individuality of every child with a warm, safe and nurturing approach, focusing on building positive relationships with the child, their family and their school support network. The Acorn Centre team ensure the child’s voice is listened to, understood and valued, and their needs are recognised and supported through a collaborative approach with their family and school team.
We are committed to supporting and encouraging children, their families and school support teams to understand and advise in how we can work together to further support the child within their settings and at home, guiding them to reach their full potential.
Through guiding children within safe boundaries and engagement in child-centred activities, we aim to reduce anxiety in children by providing security and support. We work with bespoke approaches for each child’s individual needs, to support progress in their emotional well-being, emotional regulation, self esteem, establishing positive relationships and social development. Our ultimate goal is to reduce their risk of exclusion.
The THRIVE Approach
Our Team at The Acorn Centre are trained in the THRIVE approach. This is an emotional wellbeing programme where we use THRIVE online to assess and develop action plans to deliver a social and emotional curriculum adapted for your child.
Children can have gaps in their neural pathways, for various reasons, which make it difficult for them to show their emotions, empathise with others or regulate their behaviours and emotions. The THRIVE approach helps to identify difficulties and provides individualised activities and strategies to help re-build emotional resilience. It forms a large part of our work with our children.
