Acorn & Oak session
Our aim at the Acorn Centre is to provide children who have difficulty accessing mainstream educational settings with an alternative provision grounded in play and therapeutic activities. A typical Acorn session includes outdoor play and fresh air breaks as standard.
Every Friday, the Acorn team provide specific Acorn & Oak sessions for selected children and their parent/carers. This takes place at our centre in South Oxhey.
Some of our outdoor learning activities include:
- outdoor games
- treasure hunts
- learning walks
- Craft activities
- Team building exercises
- Cooking
- Forest skills
- External day trips. Previous trips have included Wenzels bakery, Rock Up, Christmas Pantomime and Cinema.
Children may be invited to attend an Acorn & Oak session with their Parent/ Carer based on their Acorn journey. This a great opportunity for our Acorn team to get to know the children and their guardians, have fun outside and meet with other Acorn children.
