Why the name 'Acorn Centre'?

The reason behind this is that the term Acorn holds a strong association with the heritage of the Acklam area and very close association with Acklam Grange School, whose logo represents an Oak Leaf. It was felt that the name Acorn Centre is most appropriate as it signifies the transitional stages of both pupil and community development which will be facilitated from the centre in future.

This likeness can also be related to the phrase – ‘from the small acorn will grow a mighty oak tree’. This name has been fully adopted by Acklam Grange School Governing Body and it is intended to reflect the diverse range of services which are to be offered to the West Middlesbrough Community at the Centre.
